IGN got a chance to sit down and play the Xbox version of DOOM 3 at this year's E3.
"In several of the levels the combat got meaty. The Snatchers come right in for close encounter fights, swiping away and clawing your flesh. A handful of shotgun blasts will usually suffice, but strafing, hiding, and using good aim is all required. The zombies were much slower, yet they're very persistent. The hell marines will hide and reload just like you, and though you'll be better and faster, they will give you a rough time.
Doom 3 is a pure adrenaline rush, a return to the hellish, dark, and evil lairs of hell that literally launched a genre (all due respect to the earlier Wolfenstein 3-D). It does get under your skin; it does give one the creeps, and it does build a level of fear and aggression that weaves into your gaming experience that without a doubt recalls the first and second Doom games. It's simple in one respect, but the basic fundamental are so well handled, the darkness really does infuse a simple yet fundamental new aspect to the game, and the new army of hell beasts are all quite lovely in their own special demonic fashion." Nothing new in this preview, but worth giving a read over.
