Geologist at the UAC mars base.
Today, two more artifacts came up from the
mines. They were very interesting; I should have some of my technicians take a
look at them.

Those artifacts seemed to have,
disappeared. Delta labs say it’s just another prank by some of the more
‘immature’ maintenance workers. There have been some firings, and they say the
problem is taken care of.

Many workers are complaining about work
hours, and some are getting severely spooked, mumbling about strange sounds and
occurrences non-stop. Anyway, excavation rate is at an all time low, thanks to
the increased power yield of Delta labs. I’m sending a formal complaint about
their sudden intake of power, and I hope it will at least be answered.

Well, no luck with the complaint, they
didn’t even bother to answer it. Anyway, people lately have been getting more
and more freaked out, and I heard a report from medical, something about one of
their patients cutting his tongue in half, scary stuff.

More strange reports from workers, stuff
about whispering and odd noises, I’ll have to check it out for myself. In the
meantime, I am preparing for the arrival of Sergeant Kelly, Senator Carl, and a
group of marines coming via drop ship.

Log date 20/10/45
This is the log of Henry Gillith, Technician at the UAC mars
base.
Today, I noticed some very strange movements in the service
tunnels, they looked like giant spiders. I’m going to notify security about it
and see if they can help.

The security team they sent down never came back, so they
sent another to investigate.
They found the team in, pieces. Strange, I know, but they
say it was just a machinery accident.

I’ve been having some very interesting dreams lately, so I’ve
signed up for therapy. Anyways, I heard a very interesting story from one of my
buddies. Apparently, one of the patients managed to slice his tongue in half
with a scalpel. Some people also say he attacked one of the doctors there.

I haven’t been updating my log lately, mainly because of
therapy, and long work hours. Delta Labs has been sucking the living hell out
of the power systems, so everyone was issued flashlights for when the lights
went out.

We’re all supposed to be on our best today, because a new
marine squad and some government types are coming. For some reason I’ve been
feeling anxious, maybe because they had a slight pressure change, but I think
it’s something else.

Things have been moving slowly lately, not much happening.

Well, some of the scientists have started work on some kind
of ‘Plasma gun’, don’t know how it works, all I do
know is that it can vaporize pretty much anything.

The noise coming from the research labs was keeping everyone
up at night, so I have to put up with their grouchy attitudes today.

Just saw the latest version of the plasma gun, holy crap
does that thing look neat. One thing I don’t get is why they’re even making
these things; I don’t see why we need all this firepower.

This has been one hell of a long week. Everybody is in a bad
mood because they barely got any sleep, and that guard, forgot his name, has
been worse than ever, drinking and swearing, and making rude comments. When
will this ever end.

Have some bad news today. That guard lost it at the drink
machine. The thing wouldn’t give him his beer, so he started swearing all up
and down, it was a little funny at first, but before anyone could react, he fed
himself enough plasma to power an office building. Wasn’t much to clean up,
mostly vapor.

Well, I’m kind of new to this thing, but I
think I’ve gotten the hang of it. Anyway, just arrived here, coming to see my
brother Harry. The service was pretty good, but the room was pretty shabby.

I’ve been noticing lately that everyone here
is either grouchy, irritable, muttering strange things under their breath, or
all three. Heard some horrible story about a search and rescue team found ripped
apart limb-from-limb.

I’ve been getting really freaked out lately. I’ve been
hearing really weird noises from the vents. One thing I’m glad of is that I don’t
have to go down into the Mars City underground; I heard it’s really bad down
there.
